Still...I whine

Today, I'm twenty one and heading for town
A child of abandoned affection with no father around.
Still...I whine

I wash up and put on my clothes, a stocking cap, with a catty-cornered lid, pants hanging halfway down my backside showing my shorts, tats all over and metal ornaments piercing my skin, all revealed by my tank top.
Still...I whine

I am a drop out because I showed no mental dexterity with that big organ between my ears and even less with the little one above my knees.
Still...I whine

I look for a job but nobody takes me seriously, could it be that I look like an escaped community clown?
Still...I whine

I can't find a job but I did impregnate a couple girls leaving them with children like my father left me.
Still...I whine

I don't pay child support, I can't even support myself, but Mom's still taking care of me...her baby boy.
Still...I whine

I decide to hustle a little dope and wound up doing hard time for the crime.
Still...I whine

While in the pen, I didn't even pursue a G.E.D coming out just another convicted dummy.
Still...I whine

Braids were the badge of elite warrior chieftains, what did I ever do to deserve such an accolade? So, I just decide to sport a dome of silly childlike plaits.
Still...I whine

With no education, not even a GED, I would not even qualify as a military draftee.
Still...I whine

I have become a burden to society, it's the man's fault and not me!!

S
till...I whine

The preachers, teachers, sports figures, and entertainers have no doubt failed in this all but destructive road of despair.
Still...I whine

Maybe, just maybe, Barack Obama can salvage this lost generation through his example of what it is to be a man.

Welcome, Brother President.
I whine no more.

In the name of "GAWD" by Cheryl Preston

One of the seven last phrases of Christ on the cross was: "My God, My God, why has Thou forsaken me?"  If Jesus was allowed to question His Heavenly Father then surely we have a right to question mere man. Why, I wonder do celebrities who have millions and some billions at their disposal utilize fundraisers for their charity of choice? Why do they cut an album or write a book, expecting regular folk like you and me to spend our money? And then they use the proceeds for their good will cause, rather than just giving out of their own fortunes.

Why is it that corner stores have signs up stating that they have given hundreds of thousands of dollars monthly to the Virginia Lottery for the state school system, yet teachers are facing layoffs?  If this money is being utilized as was stated, for the past 20 years then how can there be a short fall? (if this has been addressed then I stand corrected). Why is that if the Prosperity Gospel is true, that the money (exceeding abundantly and above, to put you in a mansion with servants) that is supposed to be coming to the body of Christ, has not cometh to anyone (in 12 years since the book Money Cometh to the Body of Christ first came out) except those who are preaching it? Why, if this is a false Gospel, as increasing numbers around the nation believe, do people continue to stay in churches where this is espoused and give their money at the altar to the man of Gawd (man of God) rather than to missions or to help the poor? Why, someone who is reading is wondering, do I continue to expound upon this subject? No doubt Jesus had a different perspective on Sunday morning when He rose from the grave. And we can hold our state officials accountable for the lottery money. Celebrities have fundraisers because it is a good will jester that gives the impression they are helping the less fortunate (without tapping into their own funds). As for prosperity dropped from heavens, I believe it's my assignment to give readers something to think about but I realize, you can lead a horse to water (show a person a fallacy) but you can't make them drink (force them to accept the truth). Think About It!

Does the CIA mislead...?

You bet your sweet bibby it does...how else did we get stuck in Iraq looking for non-existent WMD's? A man of great character and moral direction was even misled to give an erroneous provocation for going to war with Iraq. Does Cheney lie? You can bet your sweet pace-making heart he does and is still covering his and the backsides of others, because it appears that he may have been the initiator of the cruelty treatments. Don't leave out Rumsfeld...you can't hide for long as history unfolds. So, this attack by the Republican Party against Speaker Pelosi simply reveals they have nothing of significance to solve this national and international mess that the US is embroiled. Nevertheless, bloated blowhards like Limbaugh and Hannity, like vultures circling for personal profit at the expense of empty heads with no intelligent solutions, continue to castigate President Obama, who may be the only hope of redeeming America from an incurred Republican Party disaster.

Obscene on-air prostitution...

In remembrance of those gallant patriots who gave their all for the safety of this great nation, I can't help but allude to the very obvious fake patriots...the right wing radio talk show hosts. Let them tell it, you would think they are our nation's saviours by riding on the legacy of those who made personal sacrifices of life and limb to actually do it. They constantly berate the President of the United States. Mister Obama boldly put his life and principles on the line, forsaking personal fortune to actually help this nation and its people.

Let's start with the big braying hollow brass spewing behind his "golden" EIB microphone to his ditto heads while bragging about confiscating obscene profits from his lessening sponsorships such as GM. Advertising on his show, brought no return on this investment...hey, Rick, can you spell S.U.C.K.E.R?  However, he holds sway over his minions namely, Sean Hannity, Mark Levin, and Neal Boortz...let's not forget the "whiner" Michael Savage.

These on-air pimps do a major disservice to professional ladies of the evening, offering only hot air to their hollow-head followers. I have done some research, and I cannot find one instance where these individuals made any personal sacrifice for the sake of this nation that was not motivated by personal profit. Yet, their listeners insult the nation by revealing the shallowness of their own values when they can be persuaded by such nonsense...Dick Cheney notwithstanding.

Here's the challenge to those who would put these men above the people who have died for this nation: If you can find one example of their making a personal sacrifice for this nation, not motivated by profit (this includes selling books, stage appearances, guest talks, golf fundraisers...etc.), I will waive the attendance fee for any fellow veteran attending one of my preventative healthcare technology seminars.

Bowing at the altar of a tin god???

Just this Sunday morning, I saw Chris Wallace's interview with Rush Limbaugh and Wallace seemed in awe as though this individual represents anything of significance over and above his shrill radio mantra. To top that off notable correspondent Bob Schieffer on "Face the Nation" insulted Mr Axelrod with Limbaugh's thoughts and comments. Mr. Axelrod politely responded that Limbaugh is simply an entertainer although he has influenced the cadre of ditto head Republicans including the black showpiece, aka window dressing Negro, Michael Steele...no offense, Michael, just calling them like I see 'em. And likewise for this narcissistic, paranoid, blubbering (cross between Elmer Fudd, Porky Pig, and Daffy Duck) oxy addict pulling the strings for you dufusses or dufi....who gives a good rat's behind about what he thinks? Surely, not intelligent, free thinking Americans who have stood up in defense of what the current administration is doing to get us out of this moral pit that fools like Limbaugh got us into. Just a reminder, nations have been destroyed for this sort of false idol worship...tin as well as calves of gold.

An Interesting Turn of Events

In a  previous article, I was critical of Spike Lee for his criticism of Tyler Perry's work and I stand by that. However, I saluted in another article Spike's mastery of movie making...a true trailblazer in his profession. I recently took in a DVD that was produced in part by Lee entitled "Confederate States of America" in which the satire was played out if the South had won America's civil war. The interesting turn of events is that the goal of the Confederate campaign back then can almost be aligned with today's "Conservative Movement" led by the likes of Sarah Palin and the right wing radio/television talk show hosts...an ominous prophecy if blacks and other minorities continue to sit out political campaigns by not voting. I ordered my version of the movie via "Netflix". You may have to do the same because I don't think it's available on store shelves anymore. So, again...hats off to Spike and Tyler.

Shirley's Observations...

As long as some African Americans maintain the poor me, always looking for a handout and a segregated mentality then they continue to perpetuate that low income, ghetto lifestyle.

The comment that African Americans are disproportionately represented in the public sector, in local economies, and the retail sector is again right on the mark. When I do business I'm looking at the faces the majority of times of young people who don't look like me. It's sad to me when I'm dealing in a professional environment and can hardly find an African American doctor, research scientist, or some other African American professional among our young people.

We do a poor job of encouraging our children to pursue careers in key sectors of society that will benefit the African American population. That is one way for us to make change we need to see in society. To encourage our children and even some adults to get educated in fields that benefit us as a whole.

In other cultures it's mandatory that children go to college and if the family can't afford to pay, the government gives them full scholarships to come to the United States to get educated. This isn't hearsay, I worked at a major university that recruits students from all around the globe, I've talked to these students personally. So at 25 and 26 years old they have completed their PhDs and most will return to their country to fulfill a commitment to help their people/government.

As African Americans we need to promote a better image of ourselves and stop accepting other peoples' definition of who they think we are, should be, and how we should behave.

We don't need more rappers to lull us into a sexual revolution, or demean us with words that devalue and entice us to drop it like it's hot, or glorify taking another spiritual being out of this life. We don't need to continually be entertained while subliminally being programmed to self hate, disrespect our own mothers and fathers, over-indulge the vanity of the ego, and consume foods that are designed to slowly poison us.

Don't miscontrue my statement. Yes, there are African American kids who graduate with their PhDs, Masters and Bachelors degrees too and are doing well. However, again, from my perspective, it's not enough of them doing so to make a significant impact on our race of people in these key sectors; especially in comparison to the impact that the entertainment industry has on our youth today.

The question I'd like to pose is what direction are we pointing our youth?

I would like to see more money trickle down locally so that communities can build up schools, and build more educationally focused centers in low income areas that will give young people the opportunity to learn professions instead of training as skilled service workers to labor for others.

We should strive to encourage our children to seek professional careers that benefit our race as a whole, instead of trying to make a quick buck jive talking and putting music to it. Is the only thing young black kids are good for is shaking their butts and cursing all of the time? It seems that our young people are too focused on physical fulfillment instead of intellectual stimulation and knowing their responsibility to our race and the image they are projecting. After all, aren't the children our future? What kind of kids will we be dealing with in the future?
